Lacplesis and the bear

This work was made to illustrate the Latvian poem Lacpresis, written by Andrejs Pumpurs in 1888. The poem tells the leyend of Lacplesis “the who tears bears”, the human son of a female bear from which he inherits her strength and ears. Lacplesis ended up becoming a hero and symbol of the Latvian people.

 

The illustrated poem by Pablo Auladell was published by Mansards in 2017.

Limited edition: Printed on paper Hahnnemühle Museum Etching 350g. This work belongs to the illustrations for “Lacplesis” of Andrejs Pumpurs published by Mansards in 2017. It’s an edition of 30 copies and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
