Jesús Cisneros (Zaragoza, 1969). He studied illustration at the School of Art and Art History at the University. He currently lives and works in Mexico as an illustrator and teaches an illustration class part of the Visual Communication degree.

In 2001, he illustrated his first album, El Castillo de Irás y No Volverás (Imaginarium, 2001). This was followed by more than twenty books such as Papá tenía un Sombrero (Anaya, 2006); Las palabras del agua (Anaya, 2008); El aprendiz de héroe (Edelvives, 2008); Ramón (Libros del zorro rojo, 2009); Il respiro del Vento (Kite Edizioni, 2012); El sueño (Economic Culture Fund, 2015); Cuentos de Shakespeare (Castillo, 2015); El viaje de Don Quijote (Alfaguara, 2016); Abrir los ojos, oír llover (La caja de cerillos, 2016); El príncipe moro y el pescadito de oro (Cataplum Libros, 2017), among many more.

His style is characterised by the economy of elements, delicate and minimalist lines and a careful colour selection. Sensitivity and technique come together as one in his work, which is perhaps why he has twice been selected in the Muestra de Ilustradores at the Children’s Book Fair Of Bologna (2008, 2018). His book, Ramón, was published in 2007 with the Lazarillo Illustration Award, the oldest prize in children’s and youth literature in Spainl en España, and was a finalist in the CJ Picture Book Awards (South Korea). In 2012, he received the Premio Speciale I colori del sacro in Padua for Il respiro del Vento and, in 2016, Special mention in the International Biennial ILUSTRARTE of Portugal, for Central Park, cuaderno de dibujo.
